A classic anime from the 1970s is making its way back into the small screen—but this time, and for the first time, in video game format. Dubbed UFO Robot Grendizer: The Feast of the Wolves, players will be fighting gargantuan creatures known as Sauser Beasts in various play styles.
Throughout the game, players will not only be fending off the gigantic opponents onboard the colossal robot Goldorak on foot. But they will also be flying and shooting their way against enemies, either in top-down or third-person view onboard a flying vessel.
Set during the first arc of the anime it’s based on, players will be revisiting the memorable events that took place in the anime. Fans of the Mecha franchise, including latecomers, are certainly the game’s target market. However, with a presentation quality that is aimed at the modern audience, newcomers are also likely a welcome viewers as well.
Although the visuals will certainly fulfill its role in giving life to the nostalgia of the anime, that is only half of what makes UFO Robot Grendizer special. The other half boils down to the music, which is re-orchestrated to keep the auditory experience more immersive.
UFO Robot Grendizer: The Feast of the Wolves is being developed by Endroad and is being published by Microids. The game will be released on multiple platforms, including PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, on November 14, 2023.
