Earth Defense Force 6 Western version is getting delayed for a summer launch, D3Publisher announced.
The latest installment to the beloved third-person shooter has already been available in Japan since August 25, 2022, while the Western version is originally anticipated to be released this spring. But with the publisher’s recent announcement, it appears that fans will have to wait a little longer before they can shoot massive critters in the name of saving Earth.
Per the joint statement between publisher D3Publisher and developer Sandlot, the decision to extend the launch window was to “add finishing touches and finalize preparations for its Western launch”.
Picking up where Earth Defense Force 5 left off, EDF6 is set in 2027, following the peace that took place upon humanity’s victory against the alien invaders known as the Primers. With the aftermath having taken 90 percent of the world’s population, Earth is rebuilding itself. However, lingering Primers, burrowed beneath the Earth’s surface and with increasing numbers, are threatening humanity once again. And it is up to the players to save the world once more.
Earth Defense Force 6 is playable on multiple platforms, including PS4 and PS5, but not Xbox or Switch.
