Square Enix has announced the release date for Visions of Mana alongside a new trailer. The newest entry in the company’s action RPG series is coming to PS4 and PS5 on August 29, 2024.
Mana (or Seiken Densetsu in Japan) is a series that started back in 1991. Though it started in Nintendo systems, the series had multiple PlayStation entries, such as Legend of Mana, Dawn of Mana, and more recently the remakes of the original three games.
Visions of Mana is a brand new entry updating the series to modern systems. The game tells the story of Val, a young man from the Fire Village of Tianeea.
The mana spirits appoint his childhood friend, Hinna, as the Alm of Fire. As she departs on a journey to the Mana of Tree, Val will join her as a soul guard.
Along the way, the oracle Careena, the swordmaster Morley, the queen Palamena, and custodian Julei will also join the team. Parties will only have three people available at any time, but players can mix and match the teams.
Gameplay will also have a major focus on using elementals and classes. These will significantly change character skills and be an important asset to master in game.
