In recent Helldivers II news, this last week, the soldiers of Super Earth were given a choice between two objectives. Their options were to save a children’s hospital or unlock a new stratagem, the game’s support weapons. Super Citizen Anne’s hospital desperately needed help, and the Helldivers delivered en masse. It was a touching moment in gaming, with players coming together for a good cause.
That cooperation had an even more heartwarming conclusion. As a token of creative director Johan Pilestedt’s gratitude, he donated $4,311 USD to Save the Children, a charity focused on helping children facing hunger and disaster around the world. Pilestedt posted a screenshot of the donation along with a message from the children under Super Citizen Anne’s care.
The message read:
“Thank you so much for saving us. They told us you made a lot of sacrifices (mines/lives) to help us. We’ll always be grateful. Now, we can grow up to become Helldivers too.”
