In a recent post made on the official Japanese website of Bandai Namco’s free-to-play action RPG, Blue Protocol, it was announced that the Japanese version will be shut down on January 18th, 2025.
Furthermore, Amazon Games has also announced in conjuction that the Global version, which was tentatively planned for a 2024 release on PlayStation and various other platforms, has now been cancelled.
Players can still enjoy playing the Japanese version until its shutdown, and the developers have even shared a roadmap, detailing all the new updates that players can expect until the end of service. It truly is a shame that the game only lasted a little over a year and a half before it was shut down.
For those who didn’t know, Blue Protocol was an action RPG released in 2023 in Japan by Bandai Namco. It featured a dynamic action combat system, deep character customization, and an epic story set in a vast world, where you work together as a team with other players to tackle quests, fight boss battles, and engage in massive online raids against towering monsters. A global version was announced in collaboration with Amazon Games, with a tentative release year of 2024.
