Astro Bot Dualsense Controller Hands-On Impressions – An Immersive and Fun Package

The Astro Bot limited edition DualSense controller was released on 7th of September alongside the new Astro Bot game for the PS5. I’ve had it for two weeks alongside my copy of Astro Bot, which you can even view a review for it over here. But today, we’ll be focusing on this absolutely adorable controller.

This was a very giddy day in my house!

Daring to be different

Straight off the bat, this controller looks amazing. The level of care and detail put into this is extremely evident on first look, especially with the bright blue accents down the sides, the paneling and screw marks etched into the whole controller.

The fact that the touchpad has the blue eyes on it is also a cute detail. Granted, they don’t move or light up, but that’s a whole technical non necessity that I understand why this isn’t a thing.

One thing that actually took me a little bit by surprise upon first opening the box, even through I had seen numerous pictures prior to pre ordering, was the white thumb sticks. In the game the controller actually has black sticks but the physical controller had the white.

I dunno about you, but that adds to it in my eyes, like the fact that it’s committing to a whole color scheme and not just going “Hey we’re going to use the usual black sticks”. No other PS5 controller has these white sticks, making it truly one of a kind, like Astro.

As I was actually playing Astro Bot I would catch myself looking down at the controller as I was doing the flying in scenes in game and it added an extra connection to the game for me. Found myself smiling a giddy little kid smile so much.

A Must-Have for Astro Fans

From its carefully made design to the cute aesthetic, The Astro Bot limited edition DualSense controller is an absolute must have for fans of the game or even anyone who just wants a new controller that breaks the norm and goes outside the box aesthetically.
