During the September 24th State of Play broadcast, Sony and Sucker Punch have unveiled a new title on the same veins as Ghost of Tsushima, titled Ghost of Yōtei, with a brand-new trailer bringing a sneak peek. A release date is scheduled for 2025.
About Ghost of Yōtei
Ghost of Yōtei is set in the lands surrounding Mount Yōtei, a towering peak in the heart of Ezo, an area of Japan known as Hokkaido in present day. In 1603, this area was outside the rule of Japan, and filled with sprawling grasslands, snowy tundras, and unexpected dangers. Compared to the original Ghost of Tsushima, this is a completely new story.
Sucker Punch commented on how they wanted to create “something fresh but familiar”, which led them to the idea of having a completely a new protagonist, a new story to unfold, and a new region of Japan to explore. They also commented on how the game is being built from the ground up for the PlayStation 5, taking advantage of its graphical power.
