Sony Announces Discontinuation Of the Playstation Stars Service

On their latest blog post to PlayStation Blog, Sony has announced that they will be officially retiring the PlayStation Stars service, which was released three years ago in 2022.

For those not aware, this program involved playing games to earn rewards, such as Digital Collectibles that paid homage to incredible games and the PlayStation legacy as a whole. Members of the program could also earn points that could be exchanged for either store credit, or even full versions of games. According to Sony, this decision is so the company can explore new ways to evolve their loyalty program efforts for the future.

Following this cancellation announcement, PlayStation Stars will no longer accept new members, and should you choose to cancel your membership, it will no longer be possible to enter the program. However, players are still able to earn Digital Collectibles, Points and level up their status until July 23, and any unused points can be used until their expiration date, or until November 2, 2026, whichever date comes first, and any earned Collectibles can still be viewed after the latter date passes.
