Following a rumor that states that Ubisoft’s most popular AC game—Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag—is being remade, a piece of evidence popped up that could be telling of its reality.
The summer of last year was an interesting time for Assassin’s Creed fans following word that Ubisoft is remaking AC IV: Black Flag. At the time, there was no other information surrounding the said remake, aside from that it is being worked on by Ubisoft Singapore. Now, new evidence has come to light, which seems to suggest that the project had only started development in late 2023. As spotted by Twitter/X user @Jorraptor, the LinkedIn profile of the lead game artist said that a substantial part of the team was assigned to an “Unannounced Project” in September last year. The said project of which implying Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag Remake.
Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag was a turning point for the franchise when the game debuted sailing the seas, which has been its most iconic feature since. Not only do players can navigate the game’s vast waters, but players also get to play the pirate and loot any traversing vessels of the West Indies seas.
Black Flag was not the only AC title with seafaring mechanics, however. The same gameplay feature was also implemented in a later Assassin’s Creed title, Assassin’s Creed Rogue, with little improvement and less emphasis on naval missions.
