Welcome to Astro Bot, a 3D platform game developed by SIE Japan Studio’s Team ASOBI studio, exclusively for PlayStation 5! The game is a direct sequel to Astro’s Playroom and is loaded with easter eggs that pay homage to many games that marked PlayStation’s story somehow.
Many easter eggs are also collectibles — that’s why finding them is an important part of the game experience. Overall, Astro Bot has 4 Galaxies to explore, with 6 Planets on each. It can take around 12 to 15 hours to finish the story, get all collectibles, and grab the Platinum Trophy.
All Collectibles are divided into Rescue Bots and Puzzle Pieces — and each Planet (or, at least, most of them) has 7 Bots and 3 Puzzle Pieces to collect. There are also Lost Galaxies that can be found inside Planets that unlock special Levels.
An important notice is that none of the Collectibles are missable. You can replay any Planet at any time to collect your missing items. There’s also a built-in progress tracker in the PlayStation 5’s trophy list, where you can track how many you found already.
Tentacle System (World)
Astro Bot’s main story is linear most of the time, so you need to complete the Worlds in a specific order. The first one is Tentacle System, which has 46 Bots, 16 Puzzle Pieces and 2 Lost Galaxies.
Inside Gorilla Nebula, there are 6 Planets — 4 Main Planets, 1 Boss, and 1 Special Planet. For this Collectible Guide, we listed the locations for all Bots and Puzzle Pieces for Downsize Surprise, one of the Main Planets inside this galaxy.
Downsize Surprise (Planet)
There is a total of 7 Bots, 3 Puzzle Pieces and 1 Lost Galaxy in Downsize Surprise. So let’s begin!
Bot 1/7
After you get the suit that shrinks Astro at the beginning of the planet, use the leaves to reach the next area. To your right, there is a Bot inside a cage. Shrink Astro and use the mushrooms to go inside the cage. Then turn off the suit to get big again and break the cage.
Puzzle Piece 1/3
On the left side of the area where you freed Bot 1/7 from the cage, there is a tree stump surrounded by enemies. Defeat them and then shrink Astro to enter the stump to grab a Puzzle Piece.
Bot 2/7
Right in the front of the tree stump with the Puzzle Piece 1/3, there are three wooden crates. Break them to reveal a secret area with a Bot.
Puzzle Piece 2/3
As you progress, you will reach an area with some clotheslines and enter a bedroom. Inside the bedroom, there is a Puzzle Piece inside the air conditioning. Shrink Astro and use the wall’s decoration to reach the air conditioning and grab the Puzzle Piece.
Bot 3/7
In the same room, where you grabbed the Puzzle Piece 2/3, and shrink Astro again to enter under the covers of the bed. Then go back the your normal size to reveal a Bot that was sleeping.
Bot 4/7
As you leave the bedroom, a Bot will appear right behind you. Hard to miss, but make sure you look back to see him.
Katamari Prince Bot 5/7
As you progress, you will have to climb a tree using its green leaves. In one of the branches, there is the Katamari Prince Bot! Make sure to hit him.
Lost Galaxy
When you reach an area with a cat and a locked door, look to the left to see an alternative path that leads to a frog. Notice that the frog releases some bubbles. Shrink Astro, jump on the top of one bubble, and wait to reach the highest branch of a tree. There you will find a button on the tree that reveals the Lost Galaxy.
Bot 6/7
Using the same bubbles from the Lost Galaxy, go inside the cage with a trapped Bot and turn yourself into normal size again to break it.
Quill Bot 7/7
After breaking the lock, you will climb a wall full of gears. As soon as you leave this place, look to the right side of the screen to find the Quill Bot (from the Moss games!) hanging on a cliff.
Puzzle Piece 3/3
You need some patience for this one. When you reach a clock, wait for the second hand to go around and jump on it to use it as a platform to reach the Puzzle Piece.
These are all collectibles for Downsize Surprise. Congratulations!
