Astro’s Playroom Guide: Cooling Springs – All Collectibles (Artifacts, Puzzle Pieces)

Welcome to Astro’s Playroom, a 3D platform free-to-play game developed by SIE Japan Studio’s Team Asobi studio, exclusively for PlayStation 5! The game is a direct sequel to Astro Bot Rescue Mission (a PS VR title) and is loaded with PlayStation easter eggs that pay homage to over 60 games from across 26 years.

Many easter eggs are collectibles — that’s why finding them is an important part of the game experience! Also, Astro’s Playroom is a straightforward and quick game to platinum with fairly simple gameplay. It can take around 5 hours to finish the story, get all collectibles, and grab the Platinum Trophy.

Astro’s Playroom is structured into 4 Main Worlds (not counting CPU Plaza and PlayStation Labo, since they act as hubs and not separate worlds), each containing 4 Levels. All Collectibles are divided into Artifacts and Puzzle Pieces — and each World has 9 Artifacts and 16 Puzzle Pieces across its Levels.

An important notice is that none of the Collectibles are missable. You can replay any World or Level at any time to collect your missing items. There’s also a built-in progress tracker in the PlayStation 5’s trophy list, where you can keep track of how many you found already.

Cooling Springs – All Artifacts and Puzzle Pieces

The entrance to Cooling Springs in Astro’s Playroom

Astro’s Playroom gives total freedom to its players from the beginning, that’s why it is your decision on which level you want to complete first. If you’re new to the game, Cooling Springs is the recommended level to start on to get to know the gameplay that embraces adaptive triggers and motion controls.

This World also introduces the Frog Suit, which makes you jump higher using L2 or R2. Here’s how it works: the harder you press the trigger, the higher the frog will jump, and tilting the controller left or right will make you land in a specific direction.

To obtain all Collectibles in Cooling Springs, all 4 Levels must be completed. They are Bot Beach, Springy Spa, Frigid Floes, and Hotel Hopalot. For this Collectible Guide, we listed the locations for all Artifacts and Puzzle Pieces for each Level right below. So let’s begin!

Bot Beach

There are a total of 2 Artifacts and 4 Puzzle Pieces in Bot Beach, the first Level for Cooling Springs.

Puzzle Piece 1/4

When you drop on the water at the beginning of the level, go straight to the large umbrella on the dock area on the left side of the beach. Jump on the crate, then on a smaller umbrella to the larger one to grab the first Puzzle Piece.

DUALSHOCK 3 Wireless Controller (Artifact 1/2)

On the left side of the beach, there’s a small island with three enemies and a wire on it. Defeat them and pull the wire to reveal the first Artifact of this World.

Puzzle Piece 2/4

While swimming in the water, go to the far left of the beach. A Puzzle Piece is behind the large blue pillar.

Puzzle Piece 3/4

On the right area of the beach, go to the dock to reach a round wooden platform. Pull all wires to reveal a Puzzle Piece.

PS Eye Toy Camera (Artifact 2/2)

Go to the right side of the beach and jump across the wooden platforms, while defeating the enemies on the way. Pull out the wire at the end of the path to spawn an Artifact.

Puzzle Piece 4/4

Go to the middle of the area (where the blowing sand starts). A Puzzle Piece is hidden inside the wooden crate, where a gray enemy is on top.

Springy Spa

There are a total of 2 Artifacts and 4 Puzzle Pieces in Springy Spa, the second Level for Cooling Springs.

Puzzle Piece 1/4

After getting into the Frog Suit, immediately go left to break the glass and reveal a Puzzle Piece.

Puzzle Piece 2/4

During the Frog Suit sequence, just after hitting the second red button, you need to jump on the two metal platforms. A Puzzle Piece is right on the top left corner of the screen before hitting the third red button.

Puzzle Piece 3/4

During the Frog Suit sequence, you’ll have to jump over freezing water and go up a lily pad. Then jump to the right to break a glass and reveal a Puzzle Piece.

Puzzle Piece 4/4

During the Frog Suit, a Puzzle Piece is in your way. Just progress through the level and it will appear — almost impossible to miss.

PS Move Sharpshooter (Artifact 1/2)

During the Frog Suit, you’ll need to break two slanted glass panels. Then jump to the left area to reveal a wooden box with a blue diamond on it. Jump inside the box to unlock an Artifact.

PS Move Shooting Attachment (Artifact 2/2)

During the Frog Suit sequence, the final area has some moving platforms that go left. Instead of following them, find a path on the right side to reach a secret box with an Artifact.

Frigid Floes

There are a total of 2 Artifacts and 4 Puzzle Pieces in Frigid Floes, the third Level for Cooling Springs.

Puzzle Piece 1/4

When you reach the frozen area, go immediately to the left. There’s a Puzzle Piece behind the igloo.

PS Move Navigation Controller (Artifact 1/2)

When you reach the frozen area, turn right and pull the wire to grab a throwable item. Then throw it at the platform, jump across, and pull all wires to reveal an Artifact.

PS3 Game Disc (Artifact 2/2)

While ice skating in the central area, go left across the PlayStation symbols ice blocks. Pull all the wires (careful with the two enemies that will appear) to find an Artifact.

Puzzle Piece 2/4

While ice skating in the central area, go right to reach an ice ramp. Instead of proceeding forward, jump down to discover a Puzzle Piece on the bottom of a platform.

Puzzle Piece 3/4

Near a checkpoint with a bunch of electric enemies, there are two breakable platforms with a Puzzle Piece on it. Hard to miss.

Puzzle Piece 4/4

In the floating ice platforms sequence, a Puzzle Piece is on the way while you’re on the second one. Hard to miss.

Hotel Hopalot

There are a total of 3 Artifacts and 4 Puzzle Pieces in Hotel Hopalot, the fourth and final Level for Cooling Springs.

Puzzle Piece 1/4

After getting into the Frog Suit (again), immediately go left to find a giant button, which is going to reveal some platforms. Climb it to find a Puzzle Piece.

Puzzle Piece 2/4

In the section with the moving lily pad, where you need to jump over some obstacles, jump on the last pillar with a large coin above it. Keep jumping to the right to reach a Puzzle Piece.

Puzzle Piece 3/4

While progressing, you’ll have to break a stack of glass blocks. A Puzzle Piece rests on the left side of this area. Hard to miss.

PSP UMD (Artifact 1/3)

When you reach a lily pad that goes up, jump to the right (instead of progressing to the left) to discover a secret area. Jump through the platforms to reveal a golden box with an Artifact.

Playstation Portable (Artifact 2/3)

After riding a rotating platform and a checkpoint, you’ll need to jump across the red button to the left side to discover a secret area full of coins. Ride another rotating platform and find a golden box with an Artifact.

Puzzle Piece 4/4

When you reach a lily pad that goes up, go to the left to find a Puzzle Piece.

PlayStation 3 (Artifact 3/3)

Finish the World to unlock automatically the last Artifact. Impossible to miss.

That’s all of the Artifact & Puzzle Pieces Locations in Cooling Springs, one of the Four Worlds from Astro’s Playroom on PlayStation 5. For completing 100% in this World, you will earn “HD graphics!”, “Such A Big Fan!” & “Cool Hoarder” trophies as a reward. Congratulations!
