Baldur’s Gate 3 has been an incredibly popular game the past couple months, and it seems that PS5 players will soon be able to join in on the fun.
In a recent Tweet posted by Michael Douse, the director of publishing of Larian Studios, who are behind the creation of Baldur’s Gate 3, he mentions that they are currently working on a robust, cross-platform plan for mod support to be released later this year.
Mods for Baldur’s Gate 3 are currently unofficially supported, but the studio is working with each platform to begin official support, and is also forming a curation team to evaluate mods to be distributed.
Furthermore, the developers are aiming for official mod support to cover classes (professions), user interface, customization, magic, and specific game materials and mechanics. Michael Douse also mentions that they currently have a system but it needs to be tested and still requires work.
How exactly will they achieve this is something that will be certainly a thing to look out for, as custom code on consoles is a generally hard-to-do feat, due to the closed nature of how they operate.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is a story-rich, party-based RPG set in the universe of Dungeons & Dragons, where your choices shape a tale of fellowship and betrayal, survival and sacrifice, and the lure of absolute power.
Choose from 12 classes and 11 races from the D&D Player’s Handbook and create your own identity, or play as an Origin hero with a hand-crafted background. Or tangle with your inner corruption as the Dark Urge, a fully customisable Origin hero with its own unique mechanics and story. Whoever you choose to be, adventure, loot, battle and romance your way across the Forgotten Realms and beyond.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is available on PlayStation 5.
