Blue Prince Tips and Tricks: How To Unlock the Orchard Permanent Upgrade

Welcome to the Blue Prince guide series, with tips and tricks on how to navigate the mysterious mansion. In this guide, we’ll be explaining on how you can get the Orchard permanent upgrade. Obtaining this will allow you to start future days with 70 steps rather than 50, so you can explore more before having to call it a day!

Step 1: Restoring Power to the Darkroom

To find a hint for the Apple Orchard’s puzzle, we must first draft the Darkroom. This room will have the breaker trip, turning off all the lights in the room. If you attempt to open any of the doors connected to this room in this state, you’ll notice that you aren’t able to see what exactly you’re drafting. Fortunately, there’s a way to restore power, and that’s what we’ll do.

Before you even set foot inside the room, attempt to draft the Utility Closet using a free corner of the house. Inside you’ll find a breaker box that can control the power of the Dark Room. Once you have that drafted, step inside the room, wait for the lights to go out, and then go to the Utility Closet. By flipping the breaker inside, you’ll be able to restore power to the room, which negates its effect. (It’s also highly recommend also flipping the Gymnasium key to OFF and the Garage to ON, while you’re at it.)

Step 2: Grab the Photo in the Dark Room

Once power is restored to the Darkroom, you’ll be able to interact with several items scattered across it. The item we’re looking for is located on the top right portion of the room, where you’ll find a picture of a tree orchard. Now, you’ll notice one of the trees has a heart in it. Try finding the Magnifying Glass, which can spawn in a variety of drafted rooms, and hover over the tree with the heart.

Tip 3: The Outdoors Await

Now, we’ll be taking our journey… outside the manor. In Blue Prince, there are many puzzles that are located outdoors rather than indoors. By walking a good distance to the right, where Simon’s tent is, you’ll find an orchard of trees. To enter this orchard, you’ll notice that there’s a lock on the gate, and you must input a four-digit password for it. Now, remember the hint we got in the Darkroom? This is where it comes in handy.

If you’re still stuck, and would like to know the solution, the code is 1128. Remember to touch on the gate. Now, starting from the next day, you’ll start with 70 steps instead of 50, allowing for a better exploration of Mt. Holly’s mysterious mansion.
