A PlayStation Store advertisement that depicts the cover art for The Last of Us 2 (TLOU2) might hint at the possible inclusion of the game in PS Plus, as originally reported by Twisted Voxel.
The promotional banner shows TLOU2 alongside other AAA titles, Hogwarts Legacy and Horizon Forbidden West. The latter was already included as part of PS Plus Extra’s catalog while Hogwarts Legacy is offered for a free trial under the PS Plus Premium. But the sequel to the iconic Naughty Dog franchise, while certainly one of the best games to grace the platform exclusively, remains outside of the PS Plus sphere.
The banner itself does seem promising and enough to spark the hopes of those looking to experience the game for the first time. However, recent reports involving the actual line-up of titles coming in October for the PS Plus suggest otherwise.
Although there are indeed eight new games being added to the PS Plus for this month, TLOU2 did not make the cut. For reference, here are said games:
- Gotham Knights
- Disco Elysium: The Final Cut
- The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes
- FAR: Changing Tides
- Elite Dangerous
- Gungrave G.O.R.E.
- Dead Island Definitive Edition
- Alien: Isolation
This is undoubtedly a letdown to those who are looking to get something amazing out of their subscription. But while the reality is different at this moment, there is no saying that The Last of Us 2 will eventually make its way to the PS Plus. If anything, it is just a matter of time and perfect opportunity.
