DRAGON BALL: Sparking! ZERO Showcases Game Modes in New Trailer

Bandai Namco has shared a new trailer for DRAGON BALL: Sparking! ZERO. The video showcases the game modes available in the new fighting game.

Sparking Zero is the latest fighting game in the Budokai Tenkaichi series. It will feature high-speed 3D action and it should feature 164 character options at launch, counting the multiple versions of the same individual like Goku separately.

The new video starts with the release date reveal trailer before moving on to producer Jun Furutani. He talks about the game’s Episode Battle and Custom Battle modes.

Episode Battle is a single-player mode in which players can play as one of eight main characters. The list includes Goku and Vegeta and the stages should feature some of the epic battles of the manga/anime series.

Due to the nature of adapting events from Z and Super, Goku has the most stages available. His story will go from his encounter with Raditz to the Tournament of Power saga.

At some points, the story events will feature choices. This will allow players to change the outcomes of certain moments of the original series leading to alternate scenarios.

Meanwhile, Sparking Zero’s Custom Battle mode features original scenes. The fights may have different victory conditions, and special event cutscenes.

The Custom Battle’s Edit Mode allows players to freely set characters and other elements, such as cutscenes to start and end battles. Players can then share it online.

Finally, the video comments on local multiplayer, a feature that many players had requested. Previously, the digital store pages for DRAGON BALL: Sparking! ZERO only pointed to online multiplayer.

Due to the company’s desire to focus on lots of effects, they did not plan to implement local split-screen multiplayer. It was difficult to implement this feature, so they had only singleplayer in mind for offline play.

However, with the many requests, they decided to add split-screen multiplayer to the game. It’ll have it exclusively for the Hyperbolic Time Chamber stage and it won’t be possible for both players to pick characters at the same time.

DRAGON BALL: Sparking! ZERO comes to PlayStation 5 on October 11, 2024. The game will have Deluxe and Ultimate editions, and players getting them digitally can play it three days earlier.
