Koei Tecmo has shared three new trailers for Fairy Tail 2. In the videos, we get to see a bit of the skills for playable characters Natsu, Lucy and Gray in the upcoming RPG by developer Gust.
Fairy Tail 2 is a follow up to the 2020 game. This new title adapts the last arc of the original manga series, the Alvarez Empire, leading Natsu and his friends to fight Zeref’s forces.
The gameplay has players control characters from Hiro Mashima’s story in flashy magic battles. While the original game featured a simpler turn-based system, the new release will upgrade it to a style more in line with recent Gust titles, like Atelier Ryza.
As such, instead of waiting for turns, the combat in Fairy Tail 2 will happen in real time. Timing the usage of skills and coordinating them with teammates will be an important aspect of battles. In fact, players will be able to unleash Unison Raids or use the powerful Extreme Magic as part of their strategies.
By destroying the enemies’ Break Gauge, we can also activate Link Attacks. The effects of those will depend on the allies we pick, adding various effects to our team during battle.
New Fairy Tail 2 Trailers
For the new trailers, the first video showcases the protagonist Natsu Dragneel. He’s a powerful Dragon Slayer aligned with the Fire elemental.
Meanwhile, Lucy Hearfilia uses Celestial Spirit Magic. By using special Keys, she can conjure the help of friends from various constelations, such as the zodiacs.
Finally, Gray Fullbuster uses Ice-Make Molding Magic. He creates ice with his magic and can use it to make any object he wills. He often uses it to make powerful weapons like lances, swords, axes, and even cannons.
Fairy Tail 2 is coming to PlayStation 4 and 5 on December 13, 2024.
