Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail – How To Unlock the Expert Roulette in 7.0

With over two weeks after Dawntrail’s early access release, there’s a lot more than meets the eye when it comes to content. Every expansion thus far has a series of dungeons that are mandatory to progress the Main Scenario Quests. However, some of them are considered optional.

In this guide, two quests that you will need to clear in order to unlock the Duty Roulette: Expert, which if done every day, can earn you the Allagan tomestones of aesthetics, which allow you to acquire the latest high-level gear from this expansion.

WARNING: The second quest of this guide contains spoilers for both the fifth and sixth zones of Dawntrail.

Before we get started, it’s best to be wary of the fact that these quests only appear after you’ve finished the Main Scenario Quest “Dawntrail”. Once you’ve done so, you can accept two quests, and we’ll start with one which you can accept in Tuliyollal, the main hub of Dawntrail.

The NPC that starts the quest can be found at the following location, on coordinates  X:14.0, Y:12.5:

Once you’ve talked to this NPC, head on over to Pyariyoanaan Plain, located in Shaaolani. There, you’ll unlock the entrance to the first optional dungeon, Tender Valley. You’ll then have to select this dungeon from the Duty Finder, or through the entrance.

After completing the dungeon, talk to the NPC again, where you’ll be asked to go to Worlar’s Echo. After some brief cutscenes, the quest is completed. But wait, we’re not done yet!

Something Stray in the Neighborhood

Our next quest will take us to the second hub city of Dawntrail, Solution Nine. After completing the Main Scenario Quest, a quest called Something Stray in the Neighborhood will appear near the Neon Stein Aethernet Shard, on coordinates X:18.5, Y:18.2, as seen below:

Accept the quest from the NPC, and you’ll be teleported to the Living Memory zone. There, you’ll find the entrance to the Strayborough Deadwalk, the second optional dungeon. Just like the previous one, select this from the Duty Finder and then clear it.

After completing the dungeon, speak with the NPC whom you took the quest once again and watch a brief cutscene. Congratulations! You have successfully unlocked the Expert Duty Roulette!
