Genshin Impact’s highly anticipated Patch 5.1 has finally arrived, bringing with it the next acts of Natlan’s epic story. This update also introduces the new limited character, Xilonen! Learn more about this elegant, rollerblading blacksmith in the guide below!
Understanding Xilonen in Genshin Impact
Xilonen is a five-star Geo Sword user who belongs to the Children of the Echoes. Also known as the Nanatzcayan tribe, they are well-known for being skilled miners and gem appraisers. Xilonen in specific is known to be one of the best blacksmiths in Natlan, forging not only all sorts of weapons and tools, but also Ancient Names.
Her tribe has an affinity for dancing, which makes Xilonen fit right in with her roller-blading DJ aesthetic. But her rollerblades aren’t only for the dance floor, she also uses them to traverse Natlan’s landscapes with ease.
Xilonen’s Stats
Xilonen is a defense-scaling Sword-wielding unit that, depending on elements of the allies on her team, can either be played as an off-field support by shredding enemy resistances or as on-field DPS dealing Geo damage with her Normal and Plunging attacks.
Stat | Level 1 | Level 90 |
---|---|---|
Base HP | 966 | 12405 |
Base DEF | 72 | 930 |
Base Attack | 21 | 275 |
Bonus Defense % | 0% | 36% |
If you want to ascend Xilonen, you’ll need to collect Gold-Inscribed Secret Source Cores by beating the new Secret Source Constructor boss and Whistles of varying qualities dropped by Natlan’s Saurian warriors. She will also need Brilliant Chrysanthemums found on Huitzli Hill or along the rivers surrounding the Sacred Flame Stadium.
Xilonen uses the Teachings of Kindling to level up her skills. These can be farmed in the Blazing Ruins domain every Tuesday/Friday/Sunday.
Xilonen’s Skills
Elemental Skill – Yohual’s Scratch
Using her skill makes Xilonen enter her Nightsoul’s Blessing state, gain 45 Nightsoul Points, and enter Blade Roller mode. Xilonen gains a variety of effects in this mode:
- Xilonen’s Nightsoul Points will slowly decrease, with the base duration of this mode being 9 seconds.
- She gains increased climbing and movement speed.
- Her Normal and Plunging attacks will deal Nightsoul-aligned Geo DMG and scale off her defense.
- Upon unlocking her 4th Ascension Passive and reaching the maximum amount of Nightsoul Points, she triggers an effect equal to a Nightsoul Burst.
Xilonen wields 3 Source Samplers that will change depending on the elements of the other characters in her team and will dictate what kind of playstyle Xilonen will have.
- Allies that are Geo, Anemo, or Dendro will result in Geo Samplers, which will always be active
- Allies that are Pyro, Hydro, Cryo, or Electro will result in her Samplers changing to those respective elements. These Samplers are also not initially active.
- Upon unlocking Xilonen’s 1st Ascension Passive, more effects occur based on the state of her Source Samples.
- If she has 2 or more Geo Samplers, her Normal and Plunging attacks deal 30% more damage.
- If 2 or more samples had their elements changed, Xilonen gains 35 Nightsoul points when her Normal or Plunging attacks hit opponents, triggering once every 0.1 seconds. (This is the only way for her to reach the max amount of Nightsoul Points.)
Elemental Burst – Ocelotlicue Point!
Xilonen will deal a large blast of Nightsoul-aligned AoE Geo DMG scaling on her defense.
The additional effects of her burst will depend on the state of her Source Samples.
- If she has 2 or more Geo Samplers, Xilonen will play an Ardent rhythm which will deal two additional hits of Nightsoul-aligned AoE Geo DMG.
- If 2 or more samples had their elements changed, Xilonen will play an Ebullient rhythm and heal nearby on-field characters.
Xilonen has a complex kit but the gist of it is:
- If she has 2 or more teammates that are Pyro/Hydro/Electro/Cryo, you should use her skill, activate her Source Samplers by attacking twice, and then switch to the other characters. Use her burst whenever you need healing.
- If she has 2 or more teammates that are Geo/Anemo/Dendro, use her skill and attack until she runs of out Nightsoul Points. Use her burst for a good amount of additional damage.
Xilonen’s Recommended Artifact Sets
If you’re playing Xilonen as a support, then her best set is the Scroll of the Hero of Cinder City. Not only does it provide energy whenever a Nightsoul Burst is triggered, but it also gives an Elemental Damage bonus to characters when Xilonen Crystallizes their respective elements.
The boosts provided with the set combined with Xilonen’s resistance shredding will make your team’s damage skyrocket. With this set, Xilonen will want a Defense % or Energy Recharge Sands, a Defense % Goblet, and a Healing Bonus Circlet. For substats, it is recommended to go for Energy Recharge or more Defense %.
If you’re playing Xilonen as an on-field DPS then, as with most Natlan DPS characters, she will want the Obsidian Codex set. This will boost her damage and Critical Rate percentage while she is attacking in her Nightsoul’s Blessing state.
With this set, Xilonen will want a Defense % Sands, a Geo Damage Bonus Goblet, and a Critical Rate or Damage % Circlet. For substats, she would want Crit Rate, Crit Damage, or more Defense %.
Xilonen’s Recommended Weapons
Peak Patrol Song
Peak Patrol Song is Xilonen’s best weapon for both support and DPS playstyles. She gains a lot of Defense and Elemental Damage buffs when she has to deal damage. She also ends up providing her team with a significant Elemental Damage Bonus buff when she reaches 3200 Defense.
Favonius Sword
Energy Recharge is a very good stat when running Xilonen as a support. This ensures that her burst is available as much as possible. The Energy Recharge provided by Favonius Sword combined with the Cinder set’s 2-pc passive makes it very easy for Xilonen to hit her energy requirements. Just make sure you have a good amount of Crit Rate to trigger its effects.
Flute of Ezpitzal
Flute of Ezpitzal is also a great weapon for both Xilonen playstyles. As a craftable weapon, it’s also easily accessible and possible to fully refine. When fully leveled and refined, the Flute of Ezpitzal provides an incredible 101% Defense.
Though as a support weapon, Favonius Sword may be slightly better due to the energy it can provide to Xilonen’s teammates and thereby improving teamwide DPS.
Xilonen’s Recommended Teams in Genshin Impact
Due to Xilonen’s differing playstyles, she can fit into many teams. Though it’s more recommended to play her as a support as she provides a great amount of utility. As a DPS, she provides an ample amount of damage, but not enough to contend with better DPS characters out there.
Support Xilonen
Support Xilonen teams will need 2 or more Pyro/Hydro/Electro/Cryo characters in the team due to the way her Source Samplers work.
Other than that, Xilonen’s teammates can be any mix of Main DPS – Xilonen – SubDPS/Support – Support
An example team can look like: Arlecchino – Xiangling – Xilonen – Bennett
In this team, Arlecchino is the hypercarry, Xiangling provides additional damage from off-field while Xilonen and Bennett provide Pyro resistance shred to enemies and ATK buffs, respectively.
A hypercarry team like this for Xilonen can come in many variations. Arlecchino can be changed out for other high-damage dealers like Navia or Neuvilette. Xiangling or Bennett can also be switched out for Anemo characters that can shred resistances with the Veridescent Venerer set like Sucrose or other buffers such as Furina.
On-Field Damage Xilonen
DPS Xilonen teams will require you to have 2 or more Geo/Anemo/Dendro characters. There aren’t a lot of good Anemo or Dendro teammates for Xilonen, but there are a lot of good Geo options for her.
As Xilonen is the team’s hypercarry, she will want party members that provide Defense/Damage buffs or provide some off-field damage or sustain.
An example team can look like: Xilonen – Gorou – Kachina – Xiangling
Gorou can provide buffs to Xilonen’s Defense, while Kachina, equipped with the Scroll set, can provide around 40% Elemental Damage Bonus. Xiangling provides additional damage to the team and can be switched out for other off-field characters such as Fischl or Xinqiu.
Other characters can be slotted into this team. Xianyun can be a great buffer if you want to make use of Xilonen’s Plunging attacks. Zhongli can also provide even more Geo resistance shred and can provide sustain with his hefty shielding.
Should You Get Xilonen in Genshin Impact?
Although Xilonen may not rank highly among the damage dealers in the game, she is still an incredible support both inside and outside of Natlan. As a support, her defense scaling and healing make her very straightforward to build and use.
However, don’t forget that she doesn’t boost Anemo or Dendro damage. As long as you’re not looking for a new support for characters like Wanderer, Xiao, Kinich, or Alhaitham, then Xilonen is a great support to pull for!
