While Astro Bot is set to debut, developer Team ASOBI has hidden four Special Bots inside Astro’s Playroom, which comes pre-loaded in each PlayStation 5.
These Special Bots are known characters from iconic PlayStation franchises, and players who can free them will take all four into the new Astro Bot game. They have been added to Playroom monthly, and you need to solve a (very hard, I may say) riddle to unlock each one.
The second Special Bot is Gran Turismo Bot, which pays homage to the racing sim franchise Gran Turismo. He is hidden in Bot Beach, the first Level for Cooling Springs.

Important notice: you need to have finished Astro’s Playroom at least once to make the Special Bots appear! You don’t need to have collected everything, just finished the game and watched the credits roll.
How to Unlock Gran Turismo Bot
Head on over to Cooling Springs and right on its first level, which is called Bot Beach, you need to find Gran Turismo Bot and make him pop up.
For that, it is kind of tricky. You need to step on four blue stars that are scattered around the beach — and also do this in a specific order.
- Star #1: Right when you drop on water, you’ll see a pier on your right. The first star is directly beneath it.
- Star #2: From the pier, run to the left side of the beach towards the deck with the umbrellas. There’s another star behind it in the water. Step on it.
- Star #3: Return to the right side of the beach (near the pier from before) to find the third star behind a palm tree that is near a sand castle.
- Star #4: For the last star, you need to go back to the left side of the beach and walk straight to the wall at the end. When you step on this one, a capsule with the Gran Turismo Bot will appear.
If you step on all of them and the Bot does not pop up, try resetting the level and trying again. For me, it only worked on my third try.
So, when the capsule finally appears, you will notice that its glass container has some directions printed beneath it — this is the solution to the puzzle! But we’ll help you through it all, no need to memorize it.
What you have to do now is go back to the right side of the beach (last time, I promise!) and find a blue shell at the end of the sand path. Punch it to reveal a racing wheel. Make sure that you’re standing on the wheel and then open the menu (pressing the options button). Use the D-Pad to move around the map in this exact order:

If you followed all instructions, you will have completed the puzzle. That will free the Special Bot and unlock the “Grand Tourist” Trophy. Congratulations!
