How To Unlock Selene Bot in Astro’s Playroom

While Astro Bot is set to debut, developer Team ASOBI has hidden four Special Bots inside Astro’s Playroom, which comes pre-loaded in each PlayStation 5.

These Special Bots are known characters from iconic PlayStation franchises, and players who can free them will take all four into the new Astro Bot game. They have been added to Playroom monthly, and you need to solve a (very hard, I may say) riddle to unlock each one.

The second Special Bot is Selene, the main protagonist from Returnal, a game that is exclusive to the PlayStation 5 and was developed by studio Housemarque. She is hidden in Deep Data Space, the third Level for SSD Speedway.

And we at PSLegends will help you find her! Use the guide below to solve Selene’s puzzle and free the character in Astro’s Playroom.

Important notice: you need to have finished Astro’s Playroom at least once to make the Special Bots appear! You don’t need to have collected everything, just finished the game and watched the credits roll.

How to Unlock Selene

Head on over to SSD Speedway and progress until you reach the Deep Data Space, the third level of the World. Once you get there, the first thing you need to do is find Selene and make her pop up.

Right in the area where you get the minigun, look to your left and walk out onto the cliffside of the chest, where it has a big pink flower. Stand there for a few seconds to make a capsule with the Special Bot Selene appear.

So now it’s the tricky part. The way to unlock Selene is an homage to what you do most in Returnal: die! But you also need to die in a specific way.

Grab the minigun, and head right towards the enemies — but don’t kill anyone. Just head to the top of this area and keep an eye on the floor to find a tiny toy of an astronaut.

Now, you need to step on the astronaut until a small circle appear around Astro (just like the picture above) and wait a few seconds so that the slime enemies below can kill you with stair-like projectiles.

That will free the Special Bot and unlock the “Deja Phew!” Trophy. Congratulations!
