Many are aware that the next-gen iteration of Yakuza: Like a Dragon was momentarily exclusive to the Xbox before making its debut on the PS5 on March 2nd, 2021. This exclusivity comes as a surprise since the game was originally a PlayStation exclusive in its homeland, Japan. The significance? The stipulations within a parity clause between Sega and Microsoft were such that Sega’s exclusivity agreement with Sony for the Japanese market automatically ruled out a next-gen version for Japan. Consequently, Sega chose not to launch a next-gen version globally.
