Traditional Japanese publication Famitsu has announced the top games weekly sales for the period between January 15 and January 21, 2024. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 tops the charts.
Famitsu does weekly appraisals of sales for consoles and games in Japan. This time, instead of sharing the data for the consoles, the company has only revealed game sales. Hardware sales should be coming at a later date.
On the software side, the top 30 positions only featured two PlayStation 5 titles, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and The Last of Us Part II Remastered. All the others were Switch games.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 topped the charts at 30,220 physical copies sold. It’s now sitting at 243,612 copies sold in Japan. The sudden surge in sales may be due to the new release of a Japanese bundle as those sales are also counted by Famitsu.
Meanwhile, The Last of Us Part II Remastered was an entirely new release the 13th game in the list. It sold 4,364 physical copies in Japan.
The chart marks both games as orange in the sell-through ratio. This element indicates they are flying off the shelves, and a few Japanese stores may have shortages.
