Atlus has shared a new trailer for Metaphor: ReFantazio during The Game Awards 2023. Besides giving us a closer look into the game, the video reveals the RPG will be available in Fall 2024.
Though the new video only showcases PC and Xbox systems, the game is also coming to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. The omission relates only to a merchandising agreement between Sega/Atlus and Microsoft. This should not even affect the release date, which is likely to be the same for all platforms.
Metaphor: ReFantazio is described as follows:
From the creative minds of Persona 3, Persona 4, and Persona 5— Metaphor: ReFantazio marks ATLUS’ first ever, full-scale fantasy RPG, brought to you by director Katsura Hashino, character designer Shigenori Soejima, and composer Shoji Meguro.
An anguished kingdom stands on a precipice. You must embark on a journey fraught with unsettling mystery, while overcoming obstacles and forging bonds with friends, and transforming those bonds into strength.
Fantasy is more than just a dream. Welcome to your own, modern fable — Face your fears and take back tomorrow.
Check out the new trailer called “The Royal Tournament” which presents some teasers to the game’s story as well as some gameplay bits. It shows a mix of turn-based and action RPG elements:
