This past weekend was absolutely insane, with the livestream of the Summer Games Fest event, hosted by Game Awards’ creator Geoff Keighley. However, it’s understandable that watching through the archive is a tiresome process.
Thus, we’ve compiled some of the PlayStation announcements from Summer Games Fest that we think you should take a look at.
Sonic X Shadow Generations
Sonic X Shadow Generations includes a complete remaster of the highly acclaimed Sonic Generations, a time-traveling adventure featuring a greatest-hits collection of 3D and 2D Sonic stages, now with upgraded visuals and new bonus content.
Furthermore, players can play as Shadow in a brand-new story campaign featuring never-before-seen abilities that prove why he’s known as the Ultimate Life Form. In addition, the PlayStation version of the game will include extended Prologue animations with deleted scenes.
Sonic X Shadow Generations comes to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on October 25, 2024.
Valorant
The hit game from Riot Games, Valorant, will finally be making its way to PlayStation. This is a free-to-play game of precise skill, high stakes and lethal gameplay, where two teams of five players against each other to win a round-based, attackers vs defenders, best-of-24-rounds gunfight.
Valorant will be kicking off in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Europe, and Japan with a beta on PlayStation 5 on June 14, 2024, before possibly rolling out to remaining global regions shortly thereafter.
Life is Strange: Double Exposure
Life is Strange: Double Exposure is an all-new supernatural murder mystery that will excite both new and returning players.
The story begins when Max Caulfield, photographer-in-residence at the prestigious Caledon University, discovers her closest new friend, Safi, dead in the snow. Murdered. To save her, Max tries to Rewind time, a power she’s not used in years…but instead Max opens the way to a parallel timeline where Safi is still alive, and still in danger! Max realizes the killer will soon strike again, in both versions of reality.
Life is Strange: Double Exposure will be releasing on PlayStation 5 on October 29, 2024.
Dragon Ball – Sparking! ZERO
Dragon Ball – Sparking! ZERO is a new fighting game in the Budokai Tenkaichi series originally released on PlayStation 2. It takes the legendary gameplay of the Budokai Tenkaichi series and raises it to whole new levels. Learn and master an incredible roster of playable characters, each with signature abilities, transformations, and techniques.
The game is planned for release on PlayStation 5 on October 11, 2024. Players who pre-order the game will have an early unlock of 8 different playable characters.
Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions
Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions is a game that features iconic wizarding world locations, characters, and references highlights the rush of flying across legendary arenas as either a Beater, Chaser, Keeper or Seeker in a variety of modes.
From backyard battles in the Weasley Burrow to high-stakes showdowns at the Quidditch World Cup, players will soar into legendary arenas playing as, or against, iconic characters such as Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger and many others.
Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions will be coming to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on September 3rd, 2024. It will also be available at no extra charge to all PlayStation Plus members from release date to September 30, 2024.
Neva
Neva is the follow-up title to GRIS, a title that has seen much success since its release back in 2019. It depicts the moving tale of a young woman, Alba, and her lifelong bond with a magnificent wolf as they embark on a thrilling adventure through a dying world.
Similar to GRIS, the developers have announced that Neva will feature platforming, puzzles and combat against monstrous enemies, with a minimal UI, delicate art, high quality traditional animation and haunting music.
Neva is planned for release in 2024 for PlayStation 5.
Slitterhead
Slitterhead takes place in the densely cluttered streets of Kowlong, filled with obscurity and chaos. Players take control of Hyoki, an entity devoid of memory and physical form. His only motive is to eradicate the monstrous beings known as Slitterheads crawling around the city, disguising themselves as humans.
Roaming the vibrant neon-lit cityscape, players must seek out allies among humans known as Rarities, infiltrate and track dangerous organizations, and engage in battles harnessing the power of blood. As the suspenseful drama unfolds, players will delve into the mystery behind Hyoki’s existence and the appearance of the Slitterheads.
Slitterhead launches on both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on November 8, 2024.
Slay The Princess: The Pristine Cut
This Pristine Cut edition of Slay the Princess is the definitive release of the beloved title and brings a host of brand-new content to the psychological visual novel, including three brand new chapters, never before seen princesses, expansions to familiar routes, and an entirely new ending.
Furthermore, this is a free upgrade to those who own the base game already, at no added cost. The game will be coming to PlayStation 5 this fall.
Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves
After 26 years, a brand-new entry in SNK’s Fatal Fury series, Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, is set to arrive on the scene. This new title features an unique art style that stimulates the senses, an innovative REV system that supercharges the excitement, plus a host of other battle systems even more robust than before.
The game also breathes new life into the series by introducing two distinct control schemes (ensuring fun and excitement for newcomers and veterans alike) as well as other fresh features and elements.
Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves is planned to release on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 in early 2025.
DOOM: The Dark Ages
That’s right, DOOM is coming back! DOOM: The Dark Ages is the prequel to the critically acclaimed DOOM (2016) and DOOM Eternal that tells the epic cinematic origin story of the DOOM Slayer’s rage.
This is a single-player experience that delivers the searing combat and over-the-top visuals of the incomparable DOOM franchise, powered by the latest idTech engine. Players will tear across the demon-infested battlefields in the vicious, grounded combat the original DOOM is famous for.
DOOM: The Dark Ages is planned to release for the PlayStation 5 in 2025.
