During today’s NGS headline, developer SEGA has announced the future updates coming to their free-to-play online MMORPG Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis. In one of those updates, they’ve announced a brand-new action system will be added with the July 31, 2024 update.
Introducing M.A.R.S., New Genesis’s New Action System
M.A.R.S. is a new action system that allows players to access actions that utilize powerful armaments for a set time during battle by completing the Main Task. Players can pick from an assortment of armaments, which feature a primary attack main armament and a sub-armament that provides support.
Players can exchange M.A.R.S. Updaters obtained from quest and task rewards for M.A.R.S. Skill Points to learn special skills, unlock actions, and boost stats.
Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis August 2024 Updates
In addition to the new system, a new Rank is coming to Aelio Combat Sectors and the Crimson Realm for a limited time. Enemies will be stronger, so players should take advantage of the new M.A.R.S special armament.
Furthermore, several AC Scratch Tickets will be coming throughout the month of August. These include the Halpha Summer Splash from July 31st, featuring Japanese yukatas and swimsuits, and the Shangri-La Frontier collaboration will officially begin on August 21st, allowing players to dress up as the characters from the anime.
The PSO2 Day event, which up until now, was held on only two days of each month, will now be a six-day event spanning from the 1st to the 3rd, then the 21st to the 23rd of each month. Players who have an active Premium Set will receive increased boosts and gifts, and there are many special campaigns planned.
And lastly, Phantasy Star Online 2’s Vol. 4 to Vol. 6’s soundtrack is now available on several music streaming services, with Volumes 7 and 8 coming in August, and Volumes 9 and 10 coming in September.
