Ratata Arts has shared a January update for their upcoming rhythm game Ratatan. Besides explaining a few details about the development, the team has shared short gameplay videos for the game systems.
Ratatan is a spiritual successor to Sony’s classic series Patapon. The game includes some of the developers that were involved in the IP before Sony closed down Japan Studio.
The game’s currently in its initial development stages, using focus testing to evaluate its qualities. The testers considered the basic controls good but the battle elements lacking, which the developer plan to fix before alpha testing starts.
The company plans to finalize Stage 1 first before working on the next levels. The new videos showcase some of the game’s mechanics, such as throwing bombs and choosing a special effect to power up the characters.

Due to a successful Kickstarter campaign, Ratatan will be available on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. The company plans for an April 2025 release for the game and other rewards with beta testing coming first.
