In partnership with Sony Picture Entertainment, Genvid Interactive announces the weekly airing of Silent Hill: Ascension on the Sony Pictures Core (formerly Bravia Core) app on the PS4 and PS5.
The episodic live series can also be streamed via the same app on other Sony platforms, namely Bravia TV and Xperia smartphones.
In a press release, Genvid Interactive Series Creator and Chief Creative Officer Stephan Bugaj shared his excitement in bringing the “Johansen and Hernandez families into the Silent Hill universe”.
“As they delve deeper into their own horrors, and their towns are simultaneously consumed by mass hysteria, these two families will uncover strange connections between them despite being a world apart,” he added.
Power to the Community
Genvid CEO Jacob Navok highlights the novelty of the project, stating that “There has never been an experience like Silent Hill: Ascension before”. He further explained it by saying “It’s not a game, but an interactive streaming series that will change as the audience makes decisions together”.
As a form of entertainment centered on giving the direction of the storyline to the hands of the community, Navok said that while he is the executive producer of the show, he does not know how it will end.
With the community’s consensus having the power to dictate the program’s compass, the game studio is trying to make history.
“Participating in Silent Hill: Ascension each day means you’ll be part of history that will never come again,” per Navok.
Adding on the subject of the program, Sony Pictures Entertainment New Media Distribution Senior Vice President Pete Wood shared his statement.
“We are exploring all new territory with Silent Hill: Ascension. Through this unique venture with Genvid, we are excited to offer viewers on Sony devices a weekly catch-up on the action of Silent Hill: Ascension with full episodes of compiled scenes from this innovative, interactive series.”
