In Sony’s Fiscal Year 2023 Quarter 3 documents, Sony revealed that they do not have plans to release “any new major existing franchise titles next fiscal year”. This effectively means no new titles until March 31, 2025, which is when the fiscal year closes in Japan.
In the speech transcript, Sony said the following:
Regarding first-party software, we aim to continue to focus on producing
high-quality works and developing live service games, but, while major
projects are currently under development, we do not plan to release any new
major existing franchise titles next fiscal year like God of War Ragnarök and
Marvelʼs Spider-Man.
The company has also revealed that as the PS5 enters its fifth year on the market, they will be optimizing sales with a greater emphasis on the balance with profits, as they
anticipate a gradual decline in unit sales from the next fiscal year onwards.
