During the PlayStation 5 Technical Presentation hosted by PlayStation 5 lead architect Mark Cerny, Sony has finally unveiled a new PlayStation 5 model: The PlayStation 5 Pro.
This upgraded model will be released on November 7, 2024, and it will be priced at $699,99/£699,99/€799,99/¥119,980. (Update: This is the price for the digital version of the console. The disc drive and vertical stand are both separate purchases.)
The PS5 Pro features an upscaling/antialiasing solution that Sony calls PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution Upscaling, or PSSR for short, which analyses the game in real time to provide a great experience.
The system also features a custom machine learning architecture, and an AI accelerator, allowing for a better ray-tracing experience. Mark Ceny also stated that this newly upgraded model will feature a much better Fidelity/Performance graphical experience, showcasing that regardless of which mode you choose, the PS5 Pro will deliver an immersive experience.
We’ll keep you updated as more information about the console surfaces.
