A day-one patch will be rolled out in line with Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s release. But Insomniac Games says that it is not necessary to play the game completely from the disc. The company is encouraging everyone to grab the update, at least, for the best possible experience with the game.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Insomniac Games announced that upon the game’s launch on October 20, 2023, the game will have a download update of 1.001.002. This comes amid the statement that the game itself will be playable alone directly from the disc.
Meanwhile, those who pre-loaded the game will automatically get the most updated version of the game, Insomniac claims.
But while optional, the game studio says that the update “features polish to the gold master version of Spider-Man 2 available on disc”. Particularly, the update offers refinements to the game’s opening sections and general improvements, including some additional Accessibility options.
The choice to forgo the expectedly big day-one update would be reasonable for those having connectivity issues at home. But it would be amiss to anybody else.
