Square Enix has just announced a new Version 1.1.0 update for the Star Ocean The Second Story R game. A trailer showcasing the update was also released.
This new update adds in a brand-new difficulty to the game, CHAOS. Said to be harder than UNIVERSE, the highest available difficulty thus far, enemies in this difficulty are severely more challenging.
Furthermore, several new portraits have been added to the many NPCs, with a new gallery mode allowing players to view each of the portraits. In addition, a new Assault Action was added, and new weapons and accessories can be transmuted. Lastly, a new Raid Enemy can now appear whenever you’ve beaten the main story. You can also check your unlocked Endings through the Collections screen.
Star Ocean: The Second Story R is a remake of the classic action RPG developed by Tri-Ace and originally released on the first PlayStation back in 1998 in Japan. Despite being the second game in the series, it was the first one to come west and many fans regard it as the best in its franchise. Moreover, the game has a PSP edition called Star Ocean: Second Evolution.
The Star Ocean games are science fantasy action RPGs which explore the concept of the interaction of people from planets in different stages of civilization. On Second Story, the narrative revolves around two protagonists. On one side, we have the Pangalactic Federation second lieutenant Claude C. Kenny. On the other, a young girl called Rena Lanford who hails from a primitive world.
The choice of protagonist impacts the narrative events and which allies you can add to your party. Along with the graphical update to a more detailed 2.5D style, the player can pick one of the portraits of the previous games instead of the new renditions of them. Also, English and Japanese voices are available for all events.
