Sony has announced The Last of Us Part II Remastered. The new edition of Naughty Dog’s game will be available on PlayStation 5 on January 19, 2024.
The Last of Us Part II is an action-adventure game originally released for PS4 on June 19, 2020. Back in 2021, the game received an update to enhance its performance on PS5 to 60 frames per second.
The remastered edition promises a few gameplay additions beyond some graphical enhancements. One of the new play styles is a roguelike survival mode called No Return, which allows players to face randomized enemy encounters.
New playable characters will be included in this mode and each option will have unique traits. Depending on the rewards you pick up, your character may evolve in different ways, adding replay value to this mode.
A Guitar Free Play mode is also available. This is an expansion of the guitar segments of the original game, with unlockable instruments, audio FX pedals, and other customization options.
Lost Levels from the development stage have also been added to the game. They weren’t finalized but rather added as a sort of behind-the-scenes look with commentary from the staff.
For those who already own the PS4 game, it’ll be possible to upgrade to the digital edition of the game by paying $10 USD. The remaster can also import saves from the original version.
