Square Enix launched the FFXIV Hairstyle Design Contest 2023 to get the fan base engaged, with the potential of getting the winning designs added to the game. Following deliberation from the judges, dozens of hair design entries were picked.
While not initially intended, the resulting volume of “splendid” entries pushed Square Enix to increase the overall number of winners to 40.
For winning the FFXIV Hairstyle Design Contest 2023, the winners will receive a pair of Fat Cat Earrings. This limited accessory can be worn by their avatars, which serves to commemorate their outstanding contribution to the event.
Looking into the entries, it appears that the participants have gone through different creative ways with their designs. Catering to both genders alike, the participants’ entries come in varying lengths and colors, while not necessarily reinventing the wheel. Some even show some semblance of existing and iconic designs.
While Square Enix does not guarantee that any of the designs will eventually make it to the game, the possibility is not completely ruled out. The same notion also applies to designs not deemed as winners of the event.
Meanwhile, if a design has managed to pique the interest of the developers, it will undergo some essential adjustments before rolling into the game.
