Since its release on next-gen platforms, like the PlayStation 5, on September 26, 2023, Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty has already had 4.3 million sales. The sales record represents the totality in two months, following an initial week of sales of 3 million.
Expressing the company’s gratitude for the community’s support of the DLC, CD Projekt CEO Adam Kiciński said, “We are very pleased with the launch of Phantom Liberty”.
Alongside the launch of the expansion, Kiciński credited the release of Update 2.0 for the “slew of additional improvements” brought to the game, citing how both played a critical role in elevating the quality of Night City’s gameplay.
The CDPR exec also stated that the achievement is important, considering the plans in store to further improve the franchise.
Cyberpunk 2077 sold over 25 million copies since its launch in December 2020, suggesting that it surpasses the company’s previous hit title, The Witcher 3, in terms of rate of sales.
Since the game’s widely acclaimed release in 2015, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has sold 50 million copies.
