There are plenty of playable characters in Sonic Superstars, and each of them has a unique transformation that grants them special abilities. Of these characters, Sonic the Hedgehog is possibly the most popular for his Super Sonic transformation. It was originally introduced as a secret unlockable in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 in 1992, which is unlocked by collecting every Chaos Emerald in-game.
Well, Super Sonic is making its way back into Sonic Superstars, as well. And just like the original where it was inaugurated, unlocking Super Sonic would require a significant effort to unlock. Particularly, players will have to collect seven Chaos Emeralds scattered throughout the game.
How to get the Chaos Emeralds?
Players get Chaos Emeralds by coming across giant gold rings that lead to ring-swinging Special Stages. Completing each of these stages will reward the player with a Chaos Emerald. But do note that these special stages can only be completed once. This means that players will have to seek all hidden seven golden rings to get all Chaos Emeralds.
Unlocking the Super Transformations
Once you get all seven Chaos Emeralds, a prompt will appear stating how you have unlocked a new power-up. Open the skill wheel to notice two new abilities added to it—a white symbol that’s reminiscent of a rotating blade and a yellow symbol displaying a face. The latter is the super transformation you’re looking for.
Fortunately, the players would not need to repeat the same procedure to unlock the super transformation for each character. Once it is unlocked, the ability becomes available to every playable character in-game.
How to use Super Transformation?
To enable their super transformation, players must have at least 50 rings. From there, triggering the transmutation is as simple as opening the skill wheel and then choosing the yellow symbol indicating the special skill, and then executing it with the special attack button.
During a super transformation mode, the player will be temporarily invincible and will be faster than usual. However, this is not indefinite as there is a timer that limits the duration that it gets active. Specifically, the amount of rings you have as it gets depleted over time. Fortunately, there is a way to prolong the transformation, which is done by actively getting rings throughout its activity.
