It is a sad day for the gaming industry as a whole. Mark Booty, the head of the XBOX Studios, recently sent an e-mail (which was verified by IGN) saying that Microsoft has decided to unfortunately shut down four game studios, due to a “reprioritization of titles and resources”.
Among those studios is Tango Gameworks, Roundhouse Games, Alpha Dog Studios and Arkane Austin. Perhaps the most shocking one would be Tango Gameworks, who has produced blockbuster titles such as Ghostwire: Tokyo and, more recently, Hi-Fi Rush, a game we even rated as a 10/10.
According to a message shared on the official Twitter account for Tango Gameworks, nothing will affect Hi-Fi Rush, as it will continue to be available to players on the platforms it is today.
Furthermore, this announcement has caused a lot of discourse on social media, with many commenting this decision from Microsoft is utterly terrible. After all, if they can just snap out many game studios in the blink of an eye, it begs the question: who could be next?
