One lucky player got proof of one of The Witcher 3’s hidden secrets

The Witcher 3

The Witcher 3 is a game that is not only for its expansive environment but also for the many secrets that lie in it. Of these mysteries, one is possibly the most elusive as it not only requires being in a specific place but also at a particular time in-game. And one lucky player has managed to unravel and encounter that secret for many to see. Though, he is not the first to do so.

Commonly referred to as the Skellige Ghost Ship, Redditor Mikelom88 has managed to take a snippet of his adventure across the dark seas of Skellige, eventually showcasing the mythical phantom ship of the sea.

Outside of its rather generic name, said ghost ship is otherwise known as The Flying Redanian. Which, upon seeing the actual rare sight, is telling why it is named as such—it does not float over the water as a traditional ship would but instead hovers over it. Finding the identification of the phantom ship, however, requires a reference to one of the cards in GWENT: The Witcher Card Game.

The lore behind the myth

Per the lore, The Flying Redanian came to be following the doomed fate of an ancient Redanian crew, who, after finding great treasures had resulted in infighting for the spoils. The story goes that the discord over the spoils has lasted perpetually, leading to the random encounter with the ghost ship over the Skellige seas.

The difficulty in coming across The Flying Redanian comes in the wide expanses of the areas between An Skellig and Hindarsfjall. It is made more difficult by the fact that it can only be spotted at around 12:30 AM in-game time.

Luckily, spotting The Flying Redanian is also easy from a distance. This is considering that the entire ship is a glowing body of light hovering amid the dark background.
