Blobfish, the studio behind the roguelike action shooter Brotato has announced the game’s release on PS4 and PS5 on January 30, 2024.
Originally released in Early Access on Steam on September 27, 2022 by indie game developer Thomas Gervraud under Blobfish, Brotato was subsequently released in full on June 23, 2023, followed by a Switch launch on August 3, 2023.
Now, the game is slated for a PlayStation console launch on January 30, with the game getting a physical Deluxe Edition for the PS5 by Red Art Games.
Set in the premise of a “potato” creature crashlanding on a foreign planet, players take control of Brotato as they try to survive the area’s hostile environment. Armed with up to six guns, players have at their disposal the means to do just that. The ultimate key to survival, however, is for Brotato to last long enough amid a horde of enemies as it waits for the rescue to arrive.
Brotato has the following features:
- Rapid movement (less than 30 minutes).
- Auto-firing weapons, while having a manual aiming option.
- Hundreds of weapons and items to choose from to ensure better survivability.
- Waves of enemies, each of which lasting at least 20 seconds to at most 90 seconds.
- Dozens of characters to interact with to customize the player’s runs (lucky, crazy, one-handed, mage, etc.).
- Gather materials to gain experience and stock up on items from the shop between waves of enemies.
- Configure elements in-game to suit your preferred difficulty level.
