Now this is something no one expected in their nice, Monday morning. In a post on X (formerly Twitter) by Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier, he announced that Sony Interactive Entertainment (or better known, as PlayStation), will be replacing their former CEO, Jim Ryan, with two new ones.
The two new CEOs, Hermen Hulst, who is currently the CEO of PlayStation Studios and Hideaki Nishino, the CEO of Platforms, will both be reporting to Sony’s Chairman Hiroki Totoki. This news comes after Jim Ryan announced his departure from PlayStation back in March 2024, where during this March to May period, the chairman was briefly overseeing decisions as interim CEO.
This decision will take effect starting on June 1, 2024. Hermen Hulst will be overseeing the Studio’s business, while Hideaki Nishino will oversee the hardware aspect. According to prominent Japanese insider Genki, PlayStation will announce further details on its new long term strategy at a “Corporate Strategy Meeting” scheduled for May 23rd.
Special thanks to Jason Schrier for bringing the news to light:
