The Last of Us Part II Remastered ‘Lost Levels,’ ‘No Return’ features revealed

The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered Lost Levels

The Last of Us Part II Remastered was recently announced to finally be making its way on the PlayStation 5 in early 2024. The game is expected to improve upon the original PlayStation 4 title. However, two new features are making their way as part of the remaster—the alleged “Lost Levels” and a new gameplay mode called “No Return”.

Fresh from the game’s dedicated PlayStation webpage, said features were revealed, giving fans something to look forward to when the game releases on January 19.

Described as “early-development versions of three new levels not seen in the original The Last of Us Part II,” the “Lost Levels” comprised of “Sewers, Jackson Party, and Boar Hunt”. There is not much to go by apart from the mention of the maps. But the notion of these maps serving as precursors to more fleshed-out designs should make any fans hopeful of good things to come.

A new gameplay mode, No Return, will also be included with the remaster. Described as a “roguelike,” this feature will put the player’s skills to the test with randomly generated enemies. As the players survive the horde, they will also get to encounter different memorable locations within TLOU2, culminating in fierce boss battles.

Adding more spice to the No Return mode, players will for the first time play as either Jesse, Dina, Tommy, Lev, and more—characters who were never made playable in the original sequel. But as each of these characters has its differences, choosing to play as any of these new characters offers a play style that’s significantly unique to others.
