Developer Color Gray Games and publisher Playstack have announced The Rise of the Golden Idol during The Game Awards 2023. The adventure title is coming to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 in 2024.
The game is a sequel to The Case of the Golden Idol. It introduces 15 new crime cases taking place in the 1970s. Though three centuries have passed since the previous game, humanity still craves for the idol.
Instead of following a strict order, the player can investigate the crimes in whatever way they want. The developers tease that the story features “an age of hallucinogens, fax machines, parapsychology and TV guides”, so these elements are likely to be part of the experience.
