Publisher Behaviour Interactive marked the eighth anniversary of Dead by Daylight with a livestream event, unveiling a plethora of updates and future content plans for the beloved horror title. Here’s a breakdown of all the announcements from the anniversary stream.
Here’s what went down on the livestream:
Introducing Dead by Daylight’s 2V8 Mode
The long-awaited 2V8 mode was officially confirmed, answering the demands of Dead by Daylight fans worldwide. In this new mode, two killers will square off against a team of eight survivors, promising a whole new way to play on an expanded map.
Notably, perks will take a backseat in 2V8, making way for a revamped Class system. Behaviour Interactive assured fans that the mode’s initial release will serve as a foundation for ongoing adjustments, with more details slated for a July reveal and a planned late summer launch.
Dungeons & Dragons Chapter Arriving Soon
After the first teaser trailer dropped last week, it’s now confirmed that the upcoming Dungeons & Dragons-themed chapter is set to debut on June 3rd.
This crossover introduces Vecna as the newest killer, boasting a formidable array of spells to hunt players down with: Fly, Flight of the Damned, Mage Hand, and Dispelling Sphere.
Joining Vecna are two new playable survivors (both bards), the human male Baermar Uraz and female elf Aestri Yazar. The new Survivors are equipped with unique perks suited to their bardic roles – Mirror Illusion, Bardic Inspiration, and Still Sight.
Players can expect the new Forgotten Ruins map, a dungeon-themed realm with a horror-filled underground level with lots of D&D easter eggs to look out for.
The Casting of Frank Stone Teased Again, But Still No Release Date
Last year, Behaviour Interactive announced a planned expansion of the Dead by Daylight franchise with not one, but two compelling new games set within its ominous universe. One of these titles, The Casting of Frank Stone, caught fans’ attention as a narrative-driven adventure from the esteemed developers behind Until Dawn, Supermassive Games.
The game was revealed at December’s The Game Awards. On the anniversary stream, another glimpse at gameplay for The Casting of Frank Stone was revealed.
The latest trailer, unveiled during the stream, takes players back to 1980. Against the backdrop of a group of daring friends embarking on a quest to craft their very own horror opus, the game promises an immersive blend of chilling suspense and intricate storytelling – just like Until Dawn.
While details regarding its release date remain veiled in secrecy, today’s trailer makes it seem likely that The Casting of Frank Stone will debut sometime this year.
Project T, Dead by Daylight’s planned PVE shooter spinoff, is launching an Insider Program
Behaviour Interactive shared fresh insights into Project T, a PvE shooter set in an eerie region known as The Backwater.
Up to four players can join together and fight off the invading monsters – think Call of Duty Zombies or Left 4 Dead.
While a release date still remains undisclosed, eager fans can now participate in the Insider Program, gaining exclusive access to closed playtests.
What the Fog: A New Dead by Daylight Roguelite Spinoff
An unexpected addition to the franchise, What the Fog is a new 2-person co-op roguelite exclusive to PC.
Players play as Animal Crossing style versions of existing Dead by Daylight survivors Claudette Morel, Dwight Fairfield, or Feng Min, as they fight their way through a treacherous swarm of monsters.
Furthermore, the first 2 million copies are available at no extra cost for those with a Behaviour account. Once the promotion is over, the game will cost $4.99.
Castlevania Collides with Dead by Daylight
As one final surprise to celebrate, Behaviour teased the arrival of Castlevania as the next chapter in Dead by Daylight‘s ever-expanding universe.
While details remain scant, fans can expect to hear more about the crossover with Konami’s beloved action-adventure series on August 6th.
